General Meeting – David Akoubian

September 9 @ 6:15 pm - 8:00 pm

David Akoubian has been a working nature photographer for over 25 years, but his education in photography started in High School as an Illustrator. David began his photography as a way to record scenes he would go back and paint or draw. After a year in college of studying art he realized his true joy came from the capturing the image vs painting a canvas. He put down the brushes and used the camera to create his art instead.

David will present his thoughts and beliefs as to how the elements in painting are like photography. The use of lines, symmetry, asymmetry, and many additional “rules” practiced by painters work for photography. David will discuss the use of “negative space” to the enhancement of an image. During the presentation he will discuss how simple things like lens selection can change the mood of an image as well as your angle of view. David will talk about how he uses shutter speeds similar to his use of brush strokes when he painted. Join David as he will inspire you to create images and stop simply taking pictures through simply adjusting how you view photography going forward.

We meet on the 2nd and 4th Monday of each month at the Marks Senior Center at 99 E Marks Street, Orlando, Fl 32803.
